St. Anne′s Private School, Calabar was borne out of a desire to address some observed shortcomings in our educational system especially the primary level which is the first and most important level of education. Driven by this desire, we went to great length to put together a curriculum that will ensure a solid foundation for our pupils. The success rate which our primary school pupils have recorded at various entrance examinations into secondary schools across the nation and overseas for the few who have who have migrated abroad with their parents, and the surefootedness of those who have left our primary school to secondary schools through to the tertiary institutions in Nigeria is a testament to how strong our curriculum is.
St. Anne′s High school runs a Nigerian curriculum.
Our curriculum is broad and rich.
Our daily activities in St. Anne′s High School are regulated by a well planned time table.
At St. Anne′s High School we maintain a culture of discipline
Our Primary School
To continue to grow, consolidate on our strengths and improve on our weaknesses and remain a key player in the educational development of the Cross River State of Nigeria.
To be the best, the very best and the quintessential school of choice for parents.
St. Anne′s Private School is located at No. 18 Akin Close, State Housing Estate, Calabar. The School is easily accessible from the Marian Road, by Value Mart Supermarket, and from the Murtala Mohammed Highway by Bishop Moynagh Street through Effanga Mkpa Street.
The primary section begins with the Creche which admits infants from fifteen months to 2 ? years. The Creche offers a place for working parent when their infants have not reached the age for admission into the normal school. At the Creche infants learn to socialize and learn independence from parents.
Admission begins at age 2? into a Reception class where they gain first and foremost, independence from their parents and develop physical and emotional skills as well as cultivate good relationship with children of their own age. Lessons taught at this age include nursery rhymes, songs and dance activities, picture readings, recognition of basic shapes and colours and other activities aimed at developing the child’s tender muscles. They are also assisted to recognize the letters of the alphabet, as well as count and identify numerals. A child may remain in the reception class for one school year or two depending on his/her ability and age at which he/she entered the school.
Why to choose us?
There are two years of nursery. Nursery one pupils are 3 - 4 years and Nursery two are 3 - 5 years. Within these two years, children learn to write numerals and are introduced to number work problems. They also learn to write and sound the letters of the alphabet phonetically and are thus introduced to spelling words using phonic sounds. Nursery classes are also taught rudimentary Science and Arts.
The Reception and Nursery classes are well equipped with attractive modern learning materials, each with a class toilet and bath.
The primary section has duration of five years, beginning with a primary one class and termination at Primary five (5). It is our aim that each pupil at the end of the course of study should be able to pass with ease any entrance examination into any of the highly rated secondary schools.
